General Questions About Training

What type of self defense training should I expect during class?

Streetwise Martial Arts specializes in the martial art of Krav Maga, supported by the integration of Muay Thai, Boxing, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. During the course of your training you’ll learn armed attacker defenses, striking skills, ground fighting tactics, and takedowns. Everything is geared towards defending yourself in unavoidable violent confrontations while prioritizing prevention and emotional control. Classes are challenging yet supportive, with modifications for all fitness levels.

Do I need any prior experience to join?

Absolutely not. Beginners are 100% welcomed. Coach Mike tailors instruction for your abilities so everyone progresses safely and effectively.

Do you offer private Krav Maga lessons for kids?

Yes, kids from ages 5 - 12 can definitely participate in lessons. If you’re thinking about a private lesson for a small group of kids, it’s best if each participant is no more than 2 years apart for safety in training due to the large fluctuations in size at these ages.

Locations & Logistics

Where are classes held?

Training usually takes place at one of two locations:

•  Union Square: Complete Body gym, 25 W 14th St (2nd floor) - this location is primarily for one on one sessions.

•  Midtown: Pearl Studios, 500 8th Ave - this location is where small private group classes and corporate seminars take place.

*Please note that one on one sessions can also take place at a client’s residence given there is suitable space clear of obstacles for a session to take place.

What should I expect when arriving at Complete Body (25 W 14th St)?

Look for the Complete Body sign hanging vertically above the entrance. It’s half way between 5th & 6th Avenues. Once inside, use the stairs or the elevator to the 2nd floor and Coach Mike will meet you at reception.

What should I expect when arriving at Pearl Studios (500 8th Ave)?

Coach Mike will email you the exact floor and room number for your class in advance. Bring ID for check-in with reception and use the elevator bank to your left and around the corner (not the elevators directly behind the reception desk).
